02/10/12 St. Paul, MN – The Governor’s Task Force on Broadband is meeting on February 14. The agenda for the upcoming meeting is posted on the Broadband Task Force section of the Connect Minnesota website.
In August 2011, Governor Mark Dayton issued Executive Order 11-27 establishing the Governor's Task Force on Broadband and continuing his commitment to strengthening our state's infrastructure and fostering a strong business climate.
The Task Force is charged with expanding broadband access in Minnesota, with the goal of "border-to-border" high-speed Internet and cell phone access throughout Minnesota.
On January 31, the Governor’s Task Force on Broadband released a Broadband Plan Outline which essentially is a roadmap for an action plan for identifying and correcting disparities in access and adoption of broadband in all Minnesota communities — urban, rural, and suburban. The plan will help ensure that residential homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses have access to the technology and information resources they need to thrive and compete in a global and knowledge-based economy.
